Building A Better Body

With summer fast approaching, it’s time to get back into shape. If you aren’t sure where to start, have no fear. Here are a few tips and tricks to help get you started and maintain your progress. 

Change your diet: Think of your body as a car. The less nutritious your food is, the worse your body will “run”. Avoid processed foods such as microwave meals. It also important to reduce your fat intake. Keep in mind that the healthiest fats for you are saturated and contain omega 3, 6, and 9. Increase your intake of foods that contain protein such as fish, meat and eggs to help build muscle mass. Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains should also become a huge part of your diet.

Start Drinking Water: Water should become your best friend. Drinking water before or during a meal will fill you up faster, in turn reducing your calorie intake. Water will keep you hydrated during workout, and best of all its zero calories.

Increase Your Meals: Instead of eating one or two large meals a day, you should eat about three smaller meals and two snacks per day in order to boost your metabolism. These meals should also contain a balance of protein and carbs, which will help build muscle and increase energy throughout the day.

Loose the Fat: In order to build your muscles, you need to reduce the amount of fat in your body.

You can reduce fat by doing 30 minutes of cardio and by reducing your calorie intake.

Work Your ENTIRE Body: Do not focus on building one muscle group. Focus on doing full body workouts to insure you burn a maximum number of calories and that your whole body is looking good and working properly.

Switch It Up: It is important to change up your routine every few weeks. If you repeat the same exercises every time you work out, your muscles will get used to and stop growing. There are several ways you can prevent this. Change the number of repetitions or the intensity of your exercises. You can even change the number of days you work out and the number of days you rest.

Recover: Although you may want to work out every day, you shouldn’t. When you work out, muscles fibers tear slightly. Resting allows your muscles to repair themselves and grow bigger and stronger.

Stay Motivated: Even if you don’t see results right away, it is important to keep going. Everyone’s body is different so what may work for others right away may not work as quickly for you. Continue to have a healthy diet and exercise regularly. Set goals for yourself and track your progress. When you reach a goal, you can reward yourself.

Although starting and maintaining a successful workout routine is difficult, it is important to try your best and stay motivated. You may not have to body of a Greek god or goddess, but you will definitely look and feel great.
