Hey all! I haven’t made one of these posts for a while so I decided now was as good a time as any! Take a chance and submit some of your work to these places! You’ll never what will happen unless you try.
Uncanny: Uncanny is accepting non fiction, poetry, art, and fiction. They pay different rates for the different mediums you are submitting. The poetry submissions are closing September 30, 2014, but other than that things seem open ended.
New Wave and The Art’s No Entry-Fee Second Chance for Rejected Writing of all Genres Contest: Got a rejected story or poem you think is a winner? Give this contest a try. As it says in the title there’s no entry fee. The deadline is October 14, 2014.
Canyon Voices: If you want to be featured in something a little more academic, you can submit poetry, short stories, non fiction, art and scripts to this literary magazine through ASU West. The Fall reading period lasts until October 17, 2014. The Spring reading period will be from January 1st to March 15, 2015.
World Unknown Review: World Unknown Review has a strong focus on independent authors, but anyone is welcome to submit. The guidelines are pretty lax. There is no word count limit, but the more moderate in size the story is, the better chance it has for publication. Everyone who is selected to be featured in the publication will receive three copies and $15. The deadline is October 31st, 2014.
Acidic Fiction: If you write contemporary speculative fiction including sci-fi, fantasy, horror, slipstream and magic realism, you may want to submit something to acidic fiction. Submissions should be under 6000 words. They even pay $35 per story on acceptance.
Grievous Angel: Here’s another one for you sci-fi, fantasy and horror writers. Grievous Angel is taking poetry (36 lines max) and flash fiction pieces (750 words max). They also pay and it looks like submissions are rolling.
