Shit to Listen to This Halloween

A couple of years ago I told you what to watch during Halloween. This year I’m going to tell you what to listen to. These are perfect for a party or a festive night alone. Enjoy!

Would You Love a Monsterman by Lordi: Lordi has lots of songs that make every day feel like Halloween, but Would You Love a Monsterman is especially awesome. It’s got a great 80s metal feel (although it came out in the 2000s) and it’s kind of sweet. Great lyrics.

Feed my Frankenstein by Alice Cooper: I had the pleasure of seeing Alice Cooper live over the weekend and his performance of this song was my favorite so I had to! If you’re immature like me, you’ll giggle when you actually listen to the lyrics. Hey, no one said the monsters had to be in the streets. They could very well be in your sheets.

Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie: Halloween wouldn’t be complete without a Rob Zombie song. The lyrics are hard a bit hard to understand, but the instrumentals are awesome.

Came Back Haunted by Nine Inch Nails: I chose the audio video only because the official video for this song is pretty intense.  IF YOU ARE EPILEPTIC THE OFFICIAL VIDEO MAY TRIGGER A SEIZURE SO PLEASE NOTE VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. It gave me a headache. That aside, sometimes there are things that are scarier than monsters and ghouls lurking in the dark. I think this song is a perfect example of that. And it’s pretty danceable too.

Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites by Skrillex: Dubstep isn’t for everyone, but it’s a decent song. There is no actual talk of monsters, but some might say it sounds like a monster is dying.

Enter Sandman by Metallica: Metallica took our nightmares and crammed them into a song. As someone who constantly has nightmares, this song rings true in so many ways.

Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon: Another fun and classic song to listen to. I howl along every time.

People are Strange by The Doors: Because PEOPLE are the real monsters folks. We’re all fucking weirdos.

I Put a Spell on You by Screamin Jay Hawkins: CLASSIC! I LOVE Screamin Jay Hawkins voice. The instrumentals and wicked laughter makes this song deliciously chilling. You’ll want to listen to it again and again.

Psycho Killer by Talking Heads: There’s more to Halloween than monsters! There’s psycho killers! Another fun song to sing along too.

Don’t Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult: Season’s don’t fear the reaper, baby, and neither should you. Although this song is about suicide and the death of two lovers, it’s a good song for Halloween. Besides, it features a cowbell. Who doesn’t love cowbell?

Somebody’s Watching Me by Rockwell: Monsters are lurking around every corner during Halloween. You never know who or what could be watching you. This one hit wonder is the perfect reflection of that paranoia. It’s also catchy and very danceable.

Thriller by Michael Jackson: Do I really have to say anything?

Monster Mash by Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt Kickers: No Halloween could be complete without this song. It’s a classic. One could say it’s a graveyard smash.

Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr: Who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS! A cool and funky song to get everyone dancing and singing along.

Superstition by Stevie Wonder: Another funky song to get down to this Halloween. We can all be a little superstitious, especially during Halloween. This song is the perfect example of that.

She Wolf by Shakira: She Wolf doesn’t scream Halloween, but it’s an interesting concept. Very danceable and fun. And plus there’s howling? Who doesn’t like to howl?
